About Me: Surya Dahiya - My BBA Journey, Aspirations, and Future Goals

Hello, my name is Surya Dahiya, and welcome to my personal blog. I’m here to share a little bit about myself, my journey so far, and the exciting future that lies ahead after completing my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). This blog post is a reflection on how my experiences during the BBA program have shaped my career aspirations and what I envision for my future in the world of business. Whether you’re someone who's just starting your own BBA journey or someone who's interested in the insights I’ve gathered so far, I hope this post gives you a glimpse into my dreams, ambitions, and goals.

The Beginning of My Journey

Growing up, I was always curious about how businesses functioned — from the small mom-and-pop stores in my neighborhood to the large multinational corporations I would read about in newspapers. The concept of turning ideas into successful businesses fascinated me. I realized that business is not just about profits but also about innovation, leadership, and problem-solving.

When it came time for me to choose a path for higher education, it was almost natural for me to gravitate towards a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). The program offered a perfect balance of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, with a curriculum designed to give students a well-rounded understanding of business management, finance, marketing, human resources, and entrepreneurship. These subjects aligned perfectly with my interests and career ambitions.

Why BBA?

The BBA program allowed me to explore the various facets of business and helped me build the foundation for what I hope will be a fulfilling career. What I love most about business is the diversity of its fields — there's something for everyone. Whether it's finance, marketing, consulting, or entrepreneurship, the possibilities are endless, and each has its own unique challenges and rewards.

During my BBA, I was exposed to various areas like business strategy, operations management, organizational behavior, and financial accounting. Each subject presented its own complexities, and I learned how these components come together to create a successful and sustainable business. One of the key skills I gained was critical thinking — learning to approach problems from multiple angles and finding creative solutions. This skill will be invaluable as I move forward in my career.

Practical Experience

While theoretical learning is important, practical experience is equally crucial. Throughout my BBA, I sought out internships, part-time jobs, and volunteer opportunities that allowed me to apply what I had learned in real-world settings. These experiences were essential in helping me understand the dynamics of the workplace, especially the importance of teamwork, communication, and leadership.

For example, during my internship at a local consulting firm, I got the chance to work on several market research projects, helping businesses understand their customers' preferences and behaviors. This hands-on exposure not only improved my research and analytical skills but also showed me how businesses rely on data-driven decision-making to craft strategies that foster growth.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my BBA program was how to handle pressure and time management. As someone who was balancing academic responsibilities, part-time work, and extracurricular activities, I quickly realized the importance of staying organized and setting clear goals. This experience taught me that success doesn’t come from working harder, but from working smarter. Efficiency is key.

My Future Goals: Post-BBA Vision

Having completed my BBA, I now find myself reflecting on my next steps. The future is full of possibilities, and I am eager to explore the various avenues that lie ahead. My goals are multi-faceted, and I’ve broken them down into two main categories: short-term goals and long-term goals.

Short-Term Goals

In the short term, I am focused on gaining hands-on experience in the business world. I believe that before I dive deep into a specific niche or start my own business, it’s crucial to get a solid understanding of how established companies operate. This will provide me with the knowledge and insight I need to make informed decisions when I’m ready to take on leadership roles or start my own venture.

My primary short-term goal is to secure a position at a management consulting firm. Consulting excites me because it offers the opportunity to solve complex business problems and work with a wide variety of industries. By working with different clients, I’ll gain a deeper understanding of various markets, organizational structures, and strategies. Consulting will also help me sharpen my analytical and problem-solving skills as I’ll be exposed to real-world challenges that require creative and effective solutions.

In addition to consulting, I am also considering positions in corporate strategy or business development. Both fields offer the opportunity to work closely with senior executives and influence the direction of the company. By gaining experience in these areas, I aim to develop a broad skill set that will be crucial for my long-term goals.

Long-Term Goals

My long-term vision is to eventually become an entrepreneur. I’ve always been passionate about creating things from scratch and finding innovative ways to solve problems. I believe that entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business, but about creating a sustainable model that adds value to people’s lives and contributes to society in meaningful ways.

Before diving into entrepreneurship, I believe it’s essential to gain experience in the corporate world. This will allow me to understand what works and what doesn’t in business operations, as well as build the leadership and management skills required to run a successful company. Additionally, gaining insights into business strategy and financial management will be indispensable when it comes time to make decisions for my own business.

Once I feel confident in my knowledge and skills, I plan to start my own start-up. The specific industry or sector is still to be determined, but I’m particularly interested in areas like technology, sustainable business practices, and consumer goods. As the world becomes increasingly digital, I see vast opportunities in the tech space, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. I would also love to explore social entrepreneurship, as I believe that businesses should not only be profitable but also responsible toward society and the environment.

In the long run, I envision building a global enterprise — one that not only thrives financially but also creates a lasting positive impact. I want to create a company that values innovation, integrity, and collaboration. I aim to inspire others to believe in the power of entrepreneurship to make a difference.

Personal Development Goals

As much as I’m focused on career growth, personal development remains a priority for me. I firmly believe that personal growth is just as important as professional success. To that end, I am committed to continuously learning, whether that’s through formal education, professional certifications, or self-study. I plan to pursue an MBA in the near future to further refine my leadership and management skills.

In addition to formal education, I’m passionate about reading. I believe that books are one of the best ways to expand one’s horizons. Whether it’s a book on leadership, entrepreneurship, or psychology, I am always looking to learn something new. I also aim to expand my network by connecting with industry professionals, attending business conferences, and participating in networking events.

What Drives Me: My Core Values

At the heart of everything I do are my core values. Integrity, hard work, and innovation are values I hold dear and strive to live by every day. I believe that the best businesses are built on a foundation of trust, transparency, and ethical decision-making. As I progress in my career, I intend to foster these values in every venture I undertake, whether it’s as a team member or a leader.

I also believe in continuous improvement. No matter where I am in my career, I always seek opportunities to learn, grow, and refine my skills. I want to lead by example and inspire others to always strive for excellence, both in their personal and professional lives.

Conclusion

The future is incredibly exciting, and I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. The journey so far has been both rewarding and enlightening, and I am eager to see where it takes me. With a solid foundation from my BBA, a clear vision for the future, and a strong commitment to personal and professional growth, I am ready to embrace the world of business and make a meaningful impact.
